The Long Walk
Revisiting places
can be fun, especially when you are visiting them after a long long time. It's
amazing how the same place can exude different vibes every time you visit it.
Though the Dow-hill Forest is only a few kilometers from my home, I went
there almost after five years and it was a dream come true. Wild forests,
majestic clouds, God himself had stalled the daily rainfall only for us
to travel. We strolled long inclined empty roads, got lost in forests, drank
tea after removing the fly that was drowned in it, realized the park we were to
visit was closed, but we had quite some fun. It was great.
It was the start of
a jaunt unprecedented,
No baggage - only a
path to tread,
I carried no more
but joy deeply fed:
A story began - as
they always have said.
So we walked - my
friend and I,
Smiling faces
started passing by,
Unaware of each
other's paths - walking sly,
Paths triggered
memories locked nigh.
Nevertheless we
walked up the hill,
All of nature at
moments went still;
Clouds hid the sun -
winds started to chill,
Long lost peace in
the heart was re-instilled.
Empathizing nature,
with no reason to stride;
Amidst Gigantic
trees with no norms to guide;
Through we strolled
against fears hidden inside.
At our destination,
we finally arrived:
The journey was
substantial- only to realise,
So up we gazed into
the azure skies,
Continued forward
"This is not where the end lies".
The forests were
serene I must say -
I felt the fear of
drifting away,
Lost -away from
where I stay,
But it was all worth
it at the end of the day.
Mystique clouds
below my feet,
Overlooking the
'power seat'
Behind me forests
beautifully knit,
Monstrous hills
aside etched into the skit.
Zenith is where we
stood,
Went as far as we
could,
Began descending
foot by foot,
Laid down on a field
just as we should!
Met people
charismatic down the slope,
Rediscovered peace
just as we had hoped,
Visited long lost
places as we loped,
Ignited fire in the
dark which- with hands we groped.
