Thank You My Country

Today everyone is basking in the glory of independent India. Celebrating its 69th independence day, and why shouldn't they? Independence was a result of high end struggle by brave souls who dared to transcend their fears. Not one or two, but an entire nation united by an unstoppable zeal - of being independent, of being free. But sometimes I wonder if India today is like what they had imagined it to be back then. What would they say if they were alive today? Are we independent today? Or are we only under the false expression of independence? Today lets not rejoice on our independence, today lets really think where we stand, today lets point out all the flaws in our system, in ourselves and then work hard to eradicate them! Today lets imagine a truly free India and work hard towards achieving it. From today onwards lets be the change we wish to see in the world.

Thank You My Country

Thank you my country
For all that you have done for me;
Moulded me into the man I am,
Taught me the difference between truth and sham,
Showed me the benefits of cram,
Made me realise the power of corruption in a jam.

Thank you my country
For being different;
Teaching me hope is a failure's shield,
Educating me to logic - yield,
Telling me how money matters the most in every field,
Letting me know how futile is a common man's zeal!

But thank you again my country
For providing me with a reflection of the true world;
World where lives are scaled by money,
World where motivating someone seems funny,
World shrouded by clouds yet forever thinking it's sunny,
World that never thinks to dive deep, is happy with the layer scummy.

Thank you my citizens and my country
For citing me with irony;
Gender equality followed by female foeticide!
Love followed by death's dark knight!
All different in the day, all stereotypes at night!
Trifling freedom while living in cages, with each other as you fight!

But with a whole heart I thank you my country
For making me stronger at the fall of every night;
A diamond is shiniest after years of pressure,
A star brightest when it burns with might,
An eagle flies highest when clouds below are pouring,
And a man is the mightiest when he has survived hell.
