The Road Will Remember

Leaves will fall,
Clouds will disappear,
People will go,
And all will change;
But the road will remember.

One will see a part of you,
Someone else another;
One will stick to you freely,
One will detest your philosophy;
But the road knows you all.

You have been striding with some,
You have been limping with others;
Crushing souls nonetheless,
Quarring for silver in pockets of amber.
The road has seen you in all.

Sometimes you may remember what you've done,
Other times, misguided by your actions;
Backed by thoughts of a deteriorating mind,
But to the road its all the same -
It lies unaltered through emotions in time.

So you may not understand,
Nor be understood,
Through words ambiguous, a mismatch of thoughts -
Around the bent in the undergrowth,
On the road to somewhere.

It is not a friend,
It is not a foe,
It is not stained by your actions,
It is not moved by your words,
Its a spectator free from the shackles of life!

The road you have walked upon,
On bare feet or conduicts bright;
In sultry air or cold nights,
Laughing at each other or indulged in fights;
The road remembers it all.

It is informed of what you've felt,
It can state what you made feel;
It can split your past against your future,
It can see hypocrisy you've never seen;
Yet the old wise road doesn't account for anything.

So when justice come for me,
I will bring the road to the jury,
And let them decide whether -
I'm to be enthralled or set free;
'Coz i know not what demonizing misery,
Fuels this undermined caprice.
